RV-Dreams Reunion Rally, Pahrump Nevada

March 27 – April 2, 2018:

So we just got Patty out of the hospital ER around 4:30 pm and are now rushing to get back to the Rally Campground.   They were having sign ins and after was a dinner.  I had sent Howard Payne (Howard and his wife Linda are the organizers, they are RV-Dreams) a text earlier in the afternoon saying that I wasn’t sure we would make the sign in or even dinner.  Well we made it by 6pm just in time for the dinner seconds line.

Planning our week

A little about the history of RV-Dreams and why this rally.  Howard and Linda Payne are the creators of RV-Dreams around 13 years ago to help people understand how to become full-time RVers.

Full-time basically meaning that you live in your RV all of the time.  You may still own a house but most ditch the house, buy an RV, and travel full-time.  RV-Dreams does this education by having educational rallies around the country where you can attend in an RV or, as we did, stay in a hotel.  These rallies are structured with daily seminars about making the decision to go “full-time”.

Two years ago Howard and Linda decided to have the first ever reunion rally which was held in Marion NC.  The reunion rally was held for anyone who has ever attended an RV-Dreams educational rally in the past.  This rally was to be just a fun time together and to share experiences.  We attended the first rally on the east coast because we had attended our first educational rally with RV-Dreams in Sevierville TN.

This year Howard and Linda organized this rally to be in the west.  We are attending this one as we attended our second educational rally in Harrisburg Oregon just after we became full-time RVers in 2012.

After dinner we sat around and decided what we would do for the week we are here at the rally with Linda taking notes.  The rally is very laid back!

The campground has a great gas fire pit.

Basically we planned some outings and some fun things to do around the campground.  The highlights for us were the planned tour of the local Brothel, a hike in Red Rock Canyon, and a golf outing (me).  We also had 2 catered dinners and the last night we had a DJ for dancing.

We planned to take a tour and have lunch at the Sheri's Ranch, a brothel.  It's just down the road from the chicken ranch.

We got as far as the bar and found out we needed ID.  Patty didn't bring anything with her so we didn't get the tour.

Nice golf course in the desert hills.

It's interesting to see the difference between where the ground has been watered and where it has not.

There was a long line to get into the Red Rock Canyon National Park.

We took the last trail in the park called the Oak Creek Canyon Trail

We were waiting on everyone to get there.
It was easy to miss the entrance to the trailhead road.

Ok, the group is all here!  Patty in the middle and me on the far right

We stopped a little past the end of the trail in a gulley with a little shade to rest and have lunch before hiking back.

On the last day, Sunday it was mainly everyone leaving the campground and saying goodbyes, except us.  We stayed another day so we could just relax on our own before heading further on to the west coast.  We made reservations for dinner that evening at the “best” restaurant in Pahrump, Symphony.  Symphony is located at the entrance to the campground so we could walk. We had an excellent dinner there and would highly recommend having a meal there.

Symphony is also a winery.  They don't grow the grape here but they produce wine from grapes they buy in the south-west.

Nice sunset on our last night in Pahrump NV

On Monday the 2nd of April we headed out toward the west coast to see friends in Thousand Oaks California and take a coastal tour up to Monterey and Carmel.

Stay tuned!
