We
took a 2 mile walk around the outside of the campground today. Next time we will take our bikes and go
farther to check out more area. This
area of Florida has many paved trails that seem to go on for miles. Many of the trails also serve as paths for horseback
riding. There are many horse farms here
too.
The entrance to the paths from our campground. |
Lots of flowers along the path. To the left behind the flower bushes is the campground. |
A bird sitting on a fake duck spreading it's wings. This water is on the other side of the path. |
After
the walk Patty started her work at downloading her contacts to her new phone and
I went out again to a different Walmart in Sunrise FL. I managed to get a couple of tie downs for
the awning and a lag screw to attach one of them to the concrete patio. I still need a way to anchor the other side
into grass. I know what I need, just can’t
seem to find it without driving all over the place.
We
decided it was time to meet the neighbors so we went to the pool. It’s somewhat hard to join in as most are
speaking French. However, we found many people
that spoke both English and French. We finally
met the camp host, Pierre, formally. He has been coming here on and off for the
past 30 years. He is a Montréaler and
still has a home there to keep his medical coverage. Pierre showed us around the campground and
told stories from the past. The current
owners have owned the place for just the past 5 years. They have spent over $.5m on the place so far
and you can see the changes. There is
still much work to be done here though.
It was in the past few years that this campground had sewer hook
ups added! Pierre also got us signed up for
the Christmas Eve party. The cost is
just $20 a couple to cover the food and DJ.
There will be a cash bar which is just fine with us.
The
weather here for the next 2 days is expected to be cold for this area. Temperatures will just be in the mid to upper
60s during the day with lows of 50 at night.
Tomorrow morning it I also expected to rain a little also. This is the Florida version of the storm that
is sweeping the country with wind and snow in the north.
I
am hoping to get the awning tied down tomorrow if it is not too windy or
raining. Not sure what we will do in in
this weather here. This will be somewhat new
to us.
Stay tuned!
